About Us

A person with a disability achieving success

At Achieving Independence and Mobility Center for Independent Living (AIM-CIL), we uphold the understanding that independent living means that persons with disabilities are capable of controlling their own lives and participating fully in family and community activities. All citizens, regardless of disability, have the right to a job, an education, a place to live, to go into public places, and to enjoy life to the fullest. Citizens have the responsibility to be informed, to make their own decisions, and to help others.

Through our various services and programs, we here at the Achieving Independence and Mobility Center for Independent Living ensure that these rights are encouraged and upheld. Our center is very unique, as more than 51% of our staff and board are comprised of individuals with disabilities. This allows us to apply first-hand insight, knowledge, and experiences to help those we serve.

Our History

Our history begins in 1991 when AIM Center for Independent Living first opened its doors. Formerly known as DuPage Center for Independent Living, our Center began providing services to persons with disabilities in the DuPage County area. In 2012, our Center expanded services into Kane and Kendall Counties and was renamed AIM-CIL.
